Terms of Service

Plain English summary: FamilyVault is a private financial record-keeping tool. We store only what you enter — institution names and approximate values. We never ask for account numbers, passwords or login credentials. You own your data.

1. About FamilyVault

FamilyVault ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Family Vault Australia (ABN 43 728 895 307). FamilyVault is a private financial summary tool designed to help Australian families record and organise their financial instruments for estate planning, emergency preparedness, and personal financial management.

FamilyVault is not a financial services provider, bank, investment platform, or financial adviser. Nothing on FamilyVault constitutes financial, legal, or taxation advice.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using FamilyVault, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account password. You must notify us immediately at hello@familyvault.com.au if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

You must be 18 years or older to create an account. By registering, you confirm you are an Australian resident or are recording financial instruments held in Australia.

5. Data You Enter

FamilyVault stores only the information you choose to enter. We strongly advise you to record only institution names, approximate values, and general notes — not account numbers, BSB codes, passwords, or PINs.

The accuracy of information entered is your responsibility. FamilyVault makes no warranty regarding the accuracy or completeness of user-entered data.

6. Shared Access

You may invite a partner and one emergency contact to access your financial summary. Shared users have read-only access. You can revoke access at any time from your Settings page. You are responsible for ensuring you have the consent of any person whose details you enter as a shared contact.

7. Subscription and Payment

FamilyVault offers a free plan (up to 3 entries) and paid subscription plans. Subscription fees are billed in Australian Dollars (AUD) inclusive of GST. Payments are processed securely via Stripe.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods except as required by Australian Consumer Law.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and branding of FamilyVault is owned by FamilyVault and protected by Australian and international intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of FamilyVault without our prior written consent.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FamilyVault's liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid in subscription fees in the 12 months prior to the claim.

FamilyVault is not liable for any loss arising from inaccurate data entry, reliance on the service for financial decisions, or unauthorised access to your account resulting from your failure to maintain password security.

10. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Where any guarantee applies under the Australian Consumer Law and cannot be excluded, FamilyVault's liability is limited to resupply of the service or refund of the subscription fee paid.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of FamilyVault after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
